Google defines coherence as
- the quality of being logical and consistent.
- the quality of forming a unified whole.
You must convince your readers that they can trust you. Since you are not a recognized expert in communicating with images, you must support your argument with references to authorities. In this case, that means referring explicitly to the guidelines presented by Lynch and Horton.
